Image Resolution

The resolution of your imagery is measured in dpi or dots per inch, generally the resolution ranges from 72dpi to 300dpi, if the resolution of your image is below 250dpi it could print blurry. We recommend all imagery is 280dpi or higher.

Crop Marks

Crop marks are the thin black lines found in the corners of your artwork to indicate the final trim size. Our pre-press team will use these marks to determine the size your business card should be cut to. Ideally all artwork would be supplied with crop marks.

Example crop marks

Bleed

When an element of your artwork reaches the edge of the page, it must be extended outside the final trim area by 3mm. If your artwork does not have bleed you could be left with a white border on the edge of your business card.

Colour Mode

Generally there are two colour modes, RGB (Red, Green and Blue) which are the colours used on your monitor and CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) which are the colours printers use to replicate the colour you see on-screen. Printers can only use Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (CMYK) inks so ideally all artwork should be set in CMYK.

Trim Size

The trim size of your business card artwork is generally measured in millimetres (mm). Various programs have different ways to set this measurement and the trim size will determine the size your business card is cut to. Please ensure your artwork is set to the correct trim size, for example the standard business card size is 85mm x 55mm.
